Family Therapy addresses a family's patterns of
interaction and behavior. It is a brief, solution-focused therapy modality that is a
highly effective means of evaluating and treating relationship issues within the context
of the family system. Typically it is used as an adjunct to Co-parenting Mediation when
divorced families need a therapeutic context to resolve more complex, unproductive
relational patterns. Family Therapy offers children a safe opportunity to voice their
concerns and escape loyalty conflicts between their divorced parents. The goal of
this therapy is to promote mutual respect and empathy between family members and to help
families focus on the present and future instead of becoming "stuck" in the
past.
